My name is Dana and I am taking part in a Ladies Challenge Charity Race at Stafford Motor Speedway on September 28, 2019. I have decided to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association for two very good reasons: Danielle and DJ.
My boyfriend Joey's cousins, Danielle and DJ, were diagnosed with muscular dystrophy at very young ages. Sadly, DJ succumbed to his disease before the age of 2. Danielle, nearing age 30, continues to live with her disease and never lets anything hold her back! Danielle has defied all odds predetermined to her by medical professionals, endured countless treatments and therapies, and has even beaten cancer along her journey with her disease. While Danielle does not have the abilities such as walking and moving on her own, she continues to show great strength and perseverance in her everyday life.
Every day, children are born with muscular dystrophy and adults are diagnosed with ALS and other life-threatening diseases that take away their most basic freedoms - like walking, talking, eating, hugging, and ultimately life itself.
MDA is working to give these abilities back through early intervention, local engagement, and the search for better treatments and cures. The money I raise will help children and adults in our community, like Danielle and DJ, and will also help support innovative research to change the future for people with neuromuscular disease.
Please consider making a donation - every little bit helps! If a donation is not feasible, please share this link to help raise awareness of muscular dystrophy and to share Danielle and DJ's story.
